Alexander Uglanov

Alexander B. Uglanov was born in 1960 in the city of Tver.

In 1979, he graduated from the Art College of Venetsianov (former Kalinin Art College), where he studied at the design company office with teacher Vladimir Ivanovich Burov. Experienced master taught his followers to strict canons of academic art, required them to careful study of nature and the picture quality as the foundation of painting, and at the same time, contributed to the development of individual talent of the student.

It should be said about the Hellenistic period of Uglanov. The fact is that from October 2003 to May 2004 the artist lived and worked in Greece, worked with galleries in Athens, Thessaloniki and Veria. Here he created paintings such as “The Rape of Helen”, “Goddess of Wisdom”, “Dionysus” and others on the Balkan soil, masters saw their native roots and worthy collection of Russian ellinistiki added.

Gradually, the artist from Tver finds its themes and forms its author’s style. He focuses on Russia and the Vedic Hyperborean, closer to us in time and space. There is a series of images of folklore: Prince words, Sage, bath. On the canvas “Misty Gardariki”, “Forest Sanctuary”, “test” before us is a strict nature of Northern Eurasia, with its dense thickets, bushy cliffs and clear rivers.
